I met Mike and Erin in the summer of 2014 while they were in Portland planning their Cannon Beach destination wedding and we had such fun with their engagement session (see it here). What I learned about them during their session was that they were clearly in love; so excited to be getting married; and they are quite laid back and kind individuals who work hard and get out to play as much as possible. We were a great fit for each other and every step of the way was a wonderful experience with them. I’m so thrilled to finally share their wedding day! This may be the largest blog post I’ve ever created, but Mike and Erin were a fantastic couple and their wedding day spanned longer than 12 hours. So many beautiful moments created countless pictures!!
Erin grew up in the Pacific Northwest and her family spent much of her childhood in Cannon Beach, therefore it had become a very special place for her and even more so, now that she lives in Denver, Colorado. She told me she immediately knew she hoped to be married in Cannon Beach when Mike proposed. Planning a destination wedding for over 200 guests was a challenge, yet a great experience for Erin and her mother and it was really sweet to hear how much it meant to each of them. On the day of the wedding, Erin and her bridesmaids shared her family’s beach house to get ready, while Mike shared another house with his family a block away. We met on the beach for the start of their pictures followed by a jaunt around Cannon Beach town and then finished at Hug Point before their ceremony at Cannon Beach Community Church. One of the most touching parts of the day for me was when all the women in Erin’s family, including close family friends walked her from her parents’ beach house to the church. All those ladies supporting and celebrating Erin on such an important day was really beautiful moment.
After their ceremony, Erin and Mike drove Erin’s father’s beautifully restored classic mustang to their reception at The Surfsand Resort where all their guests gave them a warm welcome. It was an incredible evening full of joy and merriment, including lots and lots of dancing! They even ended their night on the beach with cozy fires to roast marshmallows with their family and friends. Truly, a wonderful wedding with phenomenal people and I am so grateful I was invited to be a part of it. Thank you to Erin and Mike and to Erin’s parents for being so generous while we worked diligently to capture such a lovely day.
This wedding was photographed hybrid, which means a mix of digital and film formats. Film camera gear includes a Contax 645 using Fuji 400H and Kodak Tmax 400 film. Digital gear is Canon.
