Project 52

52 Wednesdays :: Grow

I’m Marla
Sprinkled throughout this journey are the little joys, moments of inspiration, and snippets of life that add color to our human experience. Join me as we embrace the beauty of imperfect perfection, the magic of a beautiful moment, and the endless possibilities of creativity.

I recently photographed the family of one of my dearest childhood friends.  One of the things I thought of was how truly fortunate it is to grow up with someone and then watch their children grow up as well.  There are many special and unique pearls to lifelong friendships, but having that type of intimate knowledge and experience of another person’s life is really such a wonderful privilege.  Perhaps it is easier for me to reflect upon it as I look at their images, but this one especially jumped out at me as the essence of growing in the way of family.  Here is baby Halsten being loved on to calm some distress.

Next in line is Laurie Schultz from Cincinnati, Ohio.  You can find her post on “grow” here:  http://schultzeegirl.blogspot.com/2012/10/project-52-wk-39.html

    Oh so sweet! And I love the sunflowers this week! 😉 The expression on this moms face is so tender!

  3. Pamela Joye says:

    i love the fingers pulling the hair…and the color contrasts – the tiny bits of blue in the background & sky that tie back to them.

  4. Heather says:

    I can feel the love between them. Beautiful.

  5. Karen Porter says:

    Love lingering at your site to read YOUR pearls of wisdom. Really. It always makes me think and take something along to instill in my life. And your image is perfect with the way mom is cradling her son with his head nestled into the crook of her neck. You are so great at capturing the emotion.

  6. Marla, Yes, lifelong friendships bring such a depth and quality to our lives. This photograph is so peaceful to me. It shows such a bond in such a silent sweet way. The colors are vibrant but soft. His hand clutching his mama’s hair and nuzzling in her shoulder bring me right back to those moments with my babies. This photograph made me feel them. Thank you.
